The Consorcio will compensate you as if you were the insured party, on the basis of the policy that you have taken out. It takes into consideration the property that you have insured and the capital limits and the other insurance contract conditions. This amount is called the “insured capital” or “insured sum” and you can refer to your Home policy to know what it is. For example, if your home is insured with the value of €150,000, that is the maximum amount that you will receive from the Consorcio, once the damages have been assessed. - If it is a vehicle:The Consorcio will compensate you again taking into consideration the conditions that you have contracted on your home policy.
In the event that the Consorcio loss adjusters declare it a total loss, the Government has announced that those affected will receive compensation equal to the GANVAM market value of the vehicle plus a 20% improvement. This market value takes into account the make, model and age of the vehicle. Thus, for example, if the market value of your car is 10,000 euros, you will receive compensation of € 12,000.
